A VALENTINE’S DAY the HAWAIIAN WAY ! (Free ALOHA design below)

My favorite destination is the Hawaiian Islands… Maui is the best…. so peaceful and relaxing even the whales visit there every winter. What a great place to go to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Most of us won’t be doing that, but you can wish your sweetheart a Happy Valentine’s Day the Hawaiian Way!

You probably already know that Valentine’s Day is a day designated to celebrate love, but perhaps you didn’t know that the Hawaiian word we’re so familiar with …Aloha… is Hawaiian for love. According to The Local’s Guide to Kauai

“It is true that in Hawaiian we say “Aloha” both when greeting someone and also saying goodbye. But that is not to be taken literally. The real meaning of Aloha in Hawaiian is that of Love, Peace, and Compassion. It’s the guidelines of how to live – a life of Aloha is one when the heart is so full it is overflowing with the ability to influence others around you with your spirit.”

After a little research, I found this Go Visit Hawaii link where you can read more about Hawaii, but here is a quote from the web page:

“With the Hawaiian word for happy being Hau’oli and the word for day being la, we can string them together with aloha to say happy love day. Before we put the words together, we’ll need to use Hawaiian sentence structure which is quite different from English. To say happy love day in Hawaiian, you would say Hau’oli la aloha, which translates into happy day [of] love.

The pronunciation of Hau’oli la aloha goes as follows:

Hau’oli – how o lee

la – lah

aloha – ah lo hah”

FYI – when I put Hau’oli la aloha into Google’s translator it defined the English translation as Happy Birthday , but according to Hawaiian language.htm Happy Birthday is ( Hau`oli la Hanau ) pronounced how-oh-lee la ha-now)

So, there you go! AND to further celebrate the Hawaiian love, I have a free machine embroidery design for you! Just click HERE or on the ALOHO image below. It’s free!
